A Meeting with Mardi Gras Zulu King

Dr. Myron Moorehead was elected Zulu King in 1999 for the Mardi Gras parade in New Orleans that once started the tradition of blacks and whites celebrating together. He stopped by the College of Arts & Humanities to meet Dean Fernandez when he flew in to participate in Anthony Major's summer Advanced Documentary class. He is also pictured with guest lecturer Valada Flewellyn.

2008 Black Faculty and Staff Mentoring Breakfast

This event was attended by UCF president John Hitt, Ambassador Harriet Elam-Thomas, and human-rights activist Naomi Tutu, the daughter of former Archbishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa.

Dean recognizes young filmmakers at Summer Film Camp

The Summer 2008 Film Workshop, presented by the College of Arts & Humanities and the Zora Institute, educated and entertained youth from eight Orlando elementary schools and the Nap Ford Community School in underserved communities. The camp was held at the CREATE facilities in UCF's Downtown Expo Center. The awards ceremony was hosted by professors Anthony Major, director of the Zora Institute, and Stella Sung, director of the Center for Research and Education in Arts, Technology, and Entertainment (CREATE). Special guest Jose Fernandez, Dean of the College of Arts & Humanities at UCF, was on hand to present the outstanding award winners. Jude Parks of Nap Ford Community school took home the Best Film award.
